Pharaoh’s Palace in Blackpool
Multimillionaire proposes creating Vegas-style casino complex in British seaside resort
British multimillionaire Trevor Hemmings wants to create Vegas-style casino, hotel and retail complexes on the Blackpool seafront. Hemmings hopes to turn Blackpool into a British Las Vegas in order to attract visitors from all over Europe and revitalize the local economy of the seaside resort, which has been dwindling over the years. Although the town attracts approximately 12 million visitors a year, the decrease is causing problems for the local industry, which is heavily dependent on tourism.
A recent poll of the locals showed them 71% in favor of the proposed casino complex. The Pharaoh's Palace Resort complex will be based on an ancient Egyptian theme comprising a multimillion dollar complex open 24 hours a day and featuring 2,500 slot machines, conference and exhibition space, an auditorium, a 500-bed hotel and extensive retail space.
